Quality research and education are profitable; they generate knowledge, welfare, wealth and sustainable development. Both are essential in knowledge generation.
IMDEA allows public access to its lines of research, lists of researchers, fellows and grant recipients.

Activities designed to foster research
IMDEA is an initiative that seeks contributing towards consolidating Madrid as a European region known for its excellence in science and technology, promoting the overall education of its researchers but also through the use of networks among the agents that are responsible for carrying out research.
Research Assistants
Doctoral students who have received fellowships, grants, contracts or any other forms of scholarships, be it from public or private institutions, national or foreign, can become Research Assistants at IMDEA, provided that the board approves their application and at least, one institute researcher supervises their academic work.
Associated researchers
There is no question that universities in Madrid have many outstanding scientists who teach and carry out research excellent research here.
IMDEA would like them to carry out research work at its network of centres without entirely letting go their teaching duties at their universities by joining IMDEA as associated researchers. IN any case they will be selected using the same merit criteria used in the selection of IMDEA full-time researchers.
Imdea Full-time researchers
One of IMDEA’s main objectives is contributing to the return of Spaniards who are currently working abroad.
IMDEA will dedicate a large part of its resources and efforts to this task. These scientists will form part of IMDEA as full-time researchers, with permanent contracts if they are already full or tenured researchers/professors; and a temporary contract subject to renewal by the Board after six years if they do not hold a tenured position upon their arrival to IMDEA.

Education
In this section IMDEA provides information about the education and training of research staff.
IMDEA is an initiative that seeks contributing towards consolidating Madrid as a European region known for its excellence in science and technology, promoting the overall education of its researchers but also through the use of networks among the agents that are responsible for carrying out research.
In the future IMDEA hopes to offer graduate courses to take advantage of all the high-quality research potential that can be carried out in each institute.
