The Community of Madrid with its universities, public research centres, and companies participate in IMDEA through agreements that include rights and obligations regarding financing, assignment of personnel or laboratories, etc.

The companies and any other organisations interested in any of these institutes can also negotiate their involvement and participate in the way that best suits their interests, in designing the institute, in creating R+D firms, in the contribution of capital funds, the sponsorship of specific activities or the funding of scholarships just to mention a few examples.
