The 5 EU missions as seen by IMDEA researchers (I) at The European Researchers’ Night in Madrid 2022

September 2, 2022

Friday, September 30, 2022 – Residencia de Estudiantes

Researchers at IMDEA Institutes are working hard to try to slow down climate change, restore our oceans, obtain healthier food, win the fight against cancer or have smarter and more sustainable cities.

The European Researchers’ Night in Madrid 2022

The European Researchers’ Night in Madrid 2022 coordinated by the Fundación para el Conocimiento madrimasd, is an action framed in the Horizonte Europe Programme. In Europe, 350 cities are joining the celebration.

The 5 EU missions as seen by IMDEA researchers (I)

Friday 30 September, at the auditorium of the Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid, researchers from the IMDEA Institutes will tell us which research lines and specific projects are being developed in their centres, directly linked to one of the 5 EU missions, whose common goal is to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.

Starting from very diverse scientific areas, they will show us that science is the Earth’s best ally, and they will give us concrete examples of how their work helps to achieve this common goal.

They will talk, for example, about how cancer and many other diseases can be fought with disciplines as diverse as Precision Nutrition or Nanoscience. Or that we can help to curb climate change by reducing the production of waste or encouraging its reuse, by manufacturing biodegradable prostheses or batteries with new materials, and much more. And that cities are and will be much “smarter” thanks to research in software and communication networks, making them healthier and more comfortable environments.

We will also be able to get to know the researchers themselves a little better, to find out what part of their work they are passionate about and what they would change. They will tell us how they came to Science and how they decided to work to advance it from Madrid. And above all, they will convince us that we can all do a lot for the future of our planet.
