To fulfill its mission, the Institute performs activities along three axes:

• Research of excellence at the precompetitive level, to advance the state of the art in areas that are within the focus of the Institute.
• Transfer of knowledge, to transfer the results of research, and in general the know-how about the technologies related to the focus of the Institute.
• Education and training to provide educational and training services, focused both on future researchers and on the professionals in industry.
