Mechanical behaviour of aluminium alloys at high strain rates
The mechanical behaviour of various aluminium alloys at different strain rates (from 10-3 up to 500 s-1) will be obtained through mechanical testing. The characterization for strain rates below 1s-1 will be made by standard tensile and compression tests. High strain rate tests will be performed in a Hopkinson's split bar. The results of the tests will be used to develop a constitutive equation (based on the Johnson-Cook model) for each aluminium alloy.
