Legal Notice for the IMDEA Portal

The purpose of the present Legal Notice is to advise all IMDEA Web site users of the conditions of access, browsing and use that shall prevail during their browsing. The present Web site has been adapted to comply with Spanish regulations governing information society services, data protection, electronic communication, confidentiality and any related regulations.

The IMDEA Web site is a project headed by the Community of Madrid with the participation of all the regional government’s departments. IMDEA consists of nine different Institutes divided according to their area of scientific specialization: WATER, FOOD, SOCIAL SCIENCES, ENERGY, MATHEMATICS, MATERIALS, NANOSCIENCE, NETWORKS and SOFTWARE, whose principal foundational objective is the achievement of benefits of general interest – educational, scientific, and the promotion of research, among others.

Users can freely browse and use the IMDEA Web Site as well as all the services provided that are currently free of charge, but access to the Web site’s intranet is restricted to authorised users.

IMDEA is the owner or has the corresponding usage license on the right of exploitation the intellectual and industrial property of the Web Page, as well as the content available on this Web site, and under no circumstances should it be understood that by providing user access, it waives, transmits, licenses or transfers the rights of IMDEA either totally or in part.

All the fractal images, which are representative of each of the IMDEA Institutes, are reproduced with permission of its author, the artist Cory Ench, and their reproduction either totally or in part by any user or third party is strictly prohibited without obtaining the necessary consent.

Neither the domain nor the copyright, property of IMDEA and of its different Institutes, may be used in connection with other content, products or services that are not property of IMDEA, when they can cause confusion among final users or discredit the Institute.

The present general terms and conditions shall prevail for as long as they are displayed. Therefore, IMDEA advises users to read them carefully each time they access the Web page.

Likewise, we reserve the right to unilaterally modify the present Legal Notice at any moment, either totally or in part. Any modification shall go into effect as soon as it is published on the Web Page, specifically, upon its insertion in the “Legal Notice” link.

IMDEA can unilaterally opt to interrupt, suspend or terminate access to the Web Page contents, regardless of the terms of the present conditions of use or of the specific conditions that regulate the provision of certain services. These situations shall not alter the content usage restrictions indicated throughout this legal notice.

In addition, IMDEA shall take all the necessary measures, insofar as it is possible, to advise users of the following circumstances – suspension, interruption or termination of access to the contents of the Web site.

In the event of a discrepancy between what is established in the present general terms and conditions and the special terms and conditions of each specific service, the latter shall prevail.

IMDEA’s failure to exercise or execute any right or conditions contained in these general terms and conditions shall not be construed as a waiver or relinquishment of any such rights, unless otherwise recognized and expressed in writing by IMDEA.
