Kickoff of the European project LIMEDU, coordinated by IMDEA Materials Institute

On June 27th, the kickoff meeting of the European project LIMEDU was held at Celestynow (Poland). The main objective of the project is to develop novel processing routes of high strength ultra-fine grained and nanostructured light metals with increased ductility based on hydrostatic extrusion. The consortium is lead by IMDEA Materials Institute and includes the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Carlos III University of Madrid.

Multi atomistic simulation for microelectronics and nuclear fusion applications

Dr. Ignacio Martin-Bragado, head researcher of the Atomistic Materials Modeling group of IMDEA Materials Institute, has been awarded with a prestigious Marie Curie Action (CIG) to carry out a four year research project on multi atomistic Monte Carlo simulation for microelectronics and nuclear fusion applications.

Development of Advanced Ecofriendly Polymer Nanocomposites with Multifunctional Properties

The group of Multifunctiional Nanocomposites of IMDEA Materials has started the research project DECOMP. The main idea of the project is to combine polymer matrices (thermoplastics, thermosets and elastomers) and nano-reinforced fillers (layered silicates/clay/carbon nanotubes) to produce innovative green nanocomposites with enhanced mechanical, thermal, gas barrier properties and good flame retardancy.
