1st Workshop on Nanobioscience, IMDEA Nanociencia-CNB-CSIC, Madrid, Spain

The First Workshop on Nanobioscience was held at the Centro Nacional de Biotecnología from 7 to 8 May. The workshop, co-organized by the IMDEA Nanoscience and the Centro Nacional de Biotecnología, was an excellent opportunity to congregate most of the spanish scientists involved in this discipline.

Professor Abruña performs cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research on a wide variety of electrochemical phenomena, working at the nanoscale or synthesizing novel inorganic complexes with interesting electrochemical properties, some of them employed on chemical systems ranging from light-emitting devices (LEDs).

Dr. Beatriz Hernández Juárez and J. Prof. Christian Klinke have been awarded with the Nanoscience Prize 2009 by AGeNT-D (Consortium of the Nanotechnology Competence Centers in Germany), supported by the Ministry of Education and Science German. This award, in its junior category, honors the research done by Dr. Juárez in her post-doctoral stay in the group headed by Prof. Horst Weller, at the Institute of Physical Chemistry in the University of Hamburg.
