IMDEA Institutes at the Madrid es Ciencia Fair 2025
Is a researcher born or made? Can anyone answer this question without a shadow of a doubt? We certainly cannot.
If you ask professional scientists why they do research, they will probably answer that a large part of their vocation is due to their curiosity, their desire to understand the world around us, and their eagerness to help others to have a better life.
Seen in this light, it would seem clear that a researcher is born. But where do curiosity and the desire to understand the world and help others come from? We dare say that it comes from living science from the inside and from a very young age, from meeting researchers capable of transmitting their enthusiasm for their work outside the laboratory.
And the Madrid es Ciencia is the ideal place to do so.
There, budding researchers, who sometimes do not yet know that they are going to be researchers in the future, meet scientists who have made research their profession, to share experiences and experiments.
IMDEA Institutes cannot miss this great opportunity to show our work and learn from the youngest.
That is why we will be at the 14th Madrid es Ciencia Fair organised by the Fundación para el Conocimiento madrimasd in pavilion 1 of IFEMA from Thursday 27th to Saturday 29th March. It is going to be an incredible three days!
If you come to the stand of the seven IMDEA Institutes you will see that waste can be very useful as fuel, or as food for bacteria that purify water; and that we can 3D print custom-made prostheses (and even the shield of your favourite team). Also that precision nutrition and Nanoscience are two great allies of our health; or the power of software and communication networks to make our lives easier.
In short, and going back to the beginning, we believe that researchers are born and made and that the Madrid es Ciencia is the ‘experiment’ that best demonstrates this. That is why the IMDEA Water, Energy, Software, Food, Nanoscience, Materials and Networks cannot miss it.
We want you to share with us your interest in science. We want to know the issues you are most concerned about, the ones you think are most urgent, what you expect from research, what you think you can contribute, and so on. And we want you to do it from IFEMA, on the #experimentaIMDEA wall we have created for you, or on your social media, using the hashtag #experimentaIMDEA. Write the phrase that defines your scientific interests, hopes, concerns… and if it is one of the most inspiring, you will be rewarded. Remember that we must be able to contact you if you are one of the lucky ones!
If you like science and art, the reward will be two tickets to the Movistar Arena show of your choice.
If you are interested in seeing cutting-edge scientific facilities, the prize will be a visit for you and your colleagues to an IMDEA Institute.
In addition, we invite you to come to our stand and get your #IMDEApassport. If you take part in the activities and experiments at the seven IMDEA institutes, you will be able to stamp your passport until you have completed all seven stamps. And when you complete it, you will also be rewarded.
